Continuity and progression is at the heart of the 18 two-week unit structure for each year, with full coverage and regular revisiting of each maths topic. These medium-term plans are for each year group from Reception to Y6
Progression steps
These charts for R-Y6 show the lines of development from early maths concepts through to higher level skills and techniques. They will help to identify gaps in children's learning as well as their next steps.
Maths trackers
A Maths tracker to assess, record and track the progress of individual children in each year group. It is matched against expected outcomes rather than against levels to help determine 'mastery'.
Mental arithmetic
These charts, for each Year 1-6, show a suggested progression in the mental arithmetic skills for each year group. They are linked to the maths topics for relevant units, with the focus on number, calculation and fractions.
Curriculum coverage
The NC Programmes of Study are matched to the medium-term planning charts, with the links showing teachers exactly what is being taught in each unit and where the PoS statements are covered. For FS2/Reception there are charts with links to Development Matters and the Early Learning Goals.
